” Introduction of Woodmiles Forum
LINE

Woodmiles Forum is a voluntary organization which is supported by the local governments across the country and volunteered by those involved in forestry, timber production, and construction. For the purposes of shortening transportation distance of timber used mainly to build houses, lowering energy consumption in transportation, and revitalizing local timber consumption, Woodmiles Forum develops and promotes indexes relating to the distance between the place of harvest and the place of consumption. The Forum is also aiming to contribute utilization of domestic materials and realization of sustainable society by:
  1. Developing Woodmiles indexes and other tools
  2. Disseminating the indexes and establishing networks
  3. Collecting relevant information and case studying
Under the current conditions of forestry and the use of timber, it is very difficult to prove that using local timber is ecological. So, it is highly requested for those involved in forestry, timber production, and construction to appeal to the public about the environmental contribution of local timber consumption. More than 100 members are active across the country. We hope more and more people to be associated with our promotional tool, Woodmiles, to activate glocal production, Local consumptionh campaign even more, and to incorporate movements all over the country.
